Stories from the Mohawk Hudson Rail Trail — In the course of collecting and writing “The Notorious Winn Brother’s” many interesting accounts of real people and events have come to light. Although interesting these stories do not fit into our larger narrative and so we sought to create an alternative space in which to share them. This is such a space.

V’ville 1.0 - The Prequel:

…From the very beginning of the Voorheesville History Facebook Group there were hints that there was a deeper prehistory. Members kept coming across a phantom hamlet that was somewhere in Montgomery County. First there was the maps, then Allen found References to the 26th NY Civil War Regiment…



Then genealogists popped in with questions that just didn’t connect…

Eventually this became too much for the researcher in me to resist. The following posts will attempt to connect the dots and bring this mystery into better focus. I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I did!
